Reading of istiaza and basmalah

Reading of istiaza and basmalah

There are four different ways of linking al isti’adha and the basmalah for a beginner to read the Quran.

1. Tying isti’adha together with basmalah:

Pause

2. Separating pronunciation of isti’adha:

Pause

3. Reading without any pauses:

4. Reading with pauses:

Pause

Pause

Note:

Unlike the cases of reading basmalah between the two surahs, there is no unacceptable reading for the cases of basmalah and isti'adha, all ways are permissible.

Exercises:

1. Practice these rules when reading the Quran

2. Explain each rule giving examples.

Questions:

1. How many ways of linking al isti’adha and the basmalah are there?

2. Are all the ways permissible for reading?
