Madd Asli

Madd Asli

Natural madd (الْمَدُّ الْأَصْلِيُّ) occurs when ا, و, ي with no haraka are preceded by a vocalized letter (which matches them, e.g fathah for alif) , the elongation occurs in the root of the word and the reasons for the elongation are not hamzah or sukoon. This madd is to be elongated for 2 counts.

We can see it is a «natural» madd simply by noticing that there is no hamzah in the preceding syllable, and no sukoon in the following one.
