Madd Leen

Madd Leen

The eased madd (madd al-leen — مَدُّ اللِّينِ) occurs when the letter وْ or the letter يْ are the next-to-last letters in a word which we make a stopping on and the letter that precedes وْ or يْ is vocalized by fathah. This rule applies only to the following two letters:

وْ يْ

It can last for 2, 4, or 6 counts exactly like Al-Madd Al-’Arid Li-Sukoon.

In case one does not make a stop — the madd is not applied.
