Quran reading methods

Quran reading methods

There are three methods of reading the Quran:

1. Al-Hadr (الْحَدْرُ) — this is a quick reading of the Quran in compliance with the rules of Tajweed.

2. At-Tahqeeq (التَّحْقِسيقُ) — it is used to master all the rules of reading in practice. This is the type of reading accepted during learning.

3. At-Tadweer (التَّدْوِيرُ) this reading is an average between التَّحْقِسيقُ and الْحَدْرُ.

All these degrees are correct, and each reader chooses the appropriate type of reading for themselves. All these types are combined in accordance with the words of the Almighty:

وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا
or a little more—and recite the Quran [properly] in a measured way.
Surah 73 al-Muzzamil, аят 4

It should be noted that when reading fast, the letters should not be swallowed and distorted. The correct length of the vowels must be observed in any method of reading, without shortening or lengthening, since this affects the meaning of words. At the same time, the length of the vowels (the time of their stretching) is determined in accordance with the general pace of reading.
